We Have a Two Year Old!

Last week, we celebrated a huge milestone here at our household! Our sweet baby girl turned two years old. Luckily, the rain held off and allowed us to party outside as planned with friends and family. Time goes by way too fast; sometimes I can hardly believe I am a mom let alone that we’ve been blessed with our daughter for two years already. We are so thankful to the Lord for giving us our daughter. Before she was born, my prayer for her was that her life would radiate the joy of the Lord. This is true of her today! She brings us such joy even in the midst of challenging circumstances. In all the unknowns of parenting, the grace of Christ is on display through her tiny yet vibrant body.

The best thing I can do for my daughter is to teach her about the love of God. This is no easy task in today’s day and age. Culture calls to us from every angle to abandon what God says is true, and to seek after what the world says is true. If you are feeling burdened by the cares of the world, take comfort is this truth:

13 For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.

14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.

15 My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth.

16 Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.

17 How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them!

18 If I would count them, they are more than the sand. I awake, and I am still with you.

Psalm 139:13-18

The truth is that God knew my daughter before she was even a thought in my mind. He made her wonderfully and He made her to adore Him. She is one of a kind! This love is not unique to just my daughter; this is true of your child too. Your two year old, seven year old, even your unborn child, has been crafted with the utmost care by the God of the universe. He ordained the days that lay ahead before a single day had occurred. He knows the number of hairs on your child’s head. Not a tear you cry goes unnoticed by the Lord (Psalm 56:8). How is that for some joy-filled truth?! My prayer for my daughter, and for you, is that you come to know the Lord as your personal savior. When you embrace this truth, it changes everything!

Happy 2nd Birthday, Sweet Girl 🙂
